Control valves are important components of modern manufacturing around the world and are used in pipelines to control operating conditions such as flow, pressure, temperature and liquid level by fully or partially opening or closing in response to a process signal.

The development of control valves is certainly closely related to the industrial progress. In ancient times, people had come up with the idea of regulating the flow directions of rivers to irrigate crops by using stones and tree trucks. In the late eighteenth century of industrial revolution, a controller with adjusting rotational speed was introduced by James Watt as a part of his fly-ball governor, which was developed to regulate the speed of his steam engine. The introduction of the controller had led people’s attention to be paid on the regulation of flow from then on.

During the period prior to the World War, lots of significant events occurred in control field. Control valves were needed for computation, control and signal transmission. In 1946, Tinsley patented the first 2 stage valve, and more technologies were used for valves. Thus from the end of the war, the control valves developed into 2 stage control valves with feedback. More developments of control valves were from about 1970 onwards in Europe, and the applications of the control valves were focused on the design of ensuring stability and life at higher pressures. Since 1980, a variety of fine small control valves and control valve actuators were created for the aim of reforming the weight and height and the circulation of control valves. Later, control valves were significantly influenced by technology developments and various application demands.

With the prosperous development of science and technology in the 21st century, control valves have been applied to different fields of military, industry, agriculture, etc.To See the Pros and Harms of spherical roller bearing.
The traditional control valves have developed into electronic control valves, proportional control valves, way control valves and internal control valves to meet higher requirements for the applications to various machines, such as gas engines, compressors, pumps and vehicles.

With the fast development of the modern agriculture, nuclear industry, petrochemical industry, electronic industry and aerospace industry, the demands and requirements for the control valves will be much higher. We believe that the future of control valves will be more prosperous, and the performance of the control valves will be greatly renewed based on advanced technologies and application demands.
